Lansing Street Plane Crash
Feb 29, 1948 - Madison, WI

A small private plane crashed into a 30-foot open space, narrowly missing the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Vick at 102 Lansing Street and an adjacent home.

Two World War II veteran brothers-in-law, David Hill & Robert Horstmeyer, were pinned in the cockpit. Hill, the pilot, died at the scene, Horstmeyer was seriously injured and died a couple days later.

Looking at the wreckage is Connie Elver, 14, of 104 Lansing Street, whose bedroom was nearly struck by the nose-diving airplane.
