Amy Young saw her daughter, Betty, struggling in the water.
She rushed to a boat, rowed to the spot where she last saw Betty, and jumped in. Not being able to swim they both drowned.
Amy & Betty are burried at Forest Hill Cemetery.
The epitaph on Amy's marker reads:
Drowned in an attempt to rescue our daughter, Betty
