Gas Explosion on Desrtoys Block, Kills Couple

Jan 5, 1958 - Madison, WI

Failure of a regulating valve allowed natural gas to rush at high pressure into low pressure valves causing explosions which rocked the Bassett Street area. Five buildings were destroyed and two people killed.
