Husband & wife, Robin Carre and Beth Potter, found in a ditch in the UW Arboretum.
Their adoptive daughter, Mimi Potter-Carre, her boyfriend and a friend of his plotted a burglary that turned deadly.
Joggers called police around 6:30 a.m. after noticing them in a ditch near Wingra Dr. Carre in his underwear, Potter in pajamas, both shot in the back of their heads.
The couple had recently moved their daughter and Sanford into an Air BNB apartment. Potter, who had a medical condition that put her at risk during the Coronavirus
Pandemic, was concerned the younger couple was not following proper social distancing guidelines during the pandemic.
Potter-Carre told detectives Sanford had been with her the night before her parents were discovered, but surveillance video & cell phone records showed otherwise. A woman
who lives near the Arboretum reported hearing gunshots around 11:15 p.m. the night before.
A classmate at West High School overheard a discussion between Potter-Carre and Sanford in which she told Sanford her parents had "bands" of money and that they were rich.
He also told of Sanford coming over to his house, calling Larrue, and discussing the killings.
