Death Corner - It was the murders of James D'Amico and Carl Justo that gave Death Corner its name. Intersection of S. Murray Street and Desmond Court, they no longer exist. Approximate location is the east end of the UW Health 1 S. Park St Medical Center. Part of what was once Murray Street is now the a pedestrian walkway, East Campus Mall.

Most of the crime occurred during Prohibition when running moonshine became very profitable. Two gangs, one centered on Regent Street and the other on Milton Street, contended for control of the liquor trade. "Rum War" soon broke out between them.
