Chad Maurer came home for lunch from his job at the Village Pedaler then he left and was never seen alive again. He was found dead in a car on the south side of Chicago. The "official" cause of death rulings would run the gamut from carbon monoxide poisoning to suicide to undetermined.

The bungling of the original investigation by Cook County officials has been widely publicized.
