When this house was owned by Mayor Paul Soglin someone poured gas on the front and back steps. Empty gas containers and a burned out torch were found. The house never
caught fire. The case remains unsolved.
Mayor Soglin; his wife, Sara; their three daughters; and his mother, Rose, were home at the time. The mayor had just returned home from open heart surgery days earlier.
